About

Welcome to our other online home. This site is primarily a resource for the congregations within our diocese, and also the communications team’s sandbox. Here, you’ll find blog posts and tutorials about the latest in web, social media and communications tools. You never know what you’ll find because 1. we believe great tools come from all arena, not just churches or nonprofits, and 2. we like to test and play with ideas, and this is where we do it. Thanks for being our guinea pigs.

By exploring the different tools and how they can help build community, the exciting potential emerges to embrace a different model of what it means to be a church seeking to reveal Christ to the world. As people work to stay more connected online, they can also stay connected to their church community. We believe it is important for each church to work towards these social networking options, to reach out to these networked generations and build a sense of community. God knows no boundaries and neither should we.

Have a look around, and if you have a question, let us know and we’ll do our best to answer it.

Kerry Allman

kerryallman1Hi! My name is Kerry Allman and I am the Internet Strategist for the Diocese of Olympia, the Episcopal Church in Western Washington. My goal is to use this blog as a tool and resource for faith communities in expanding their presence in cyberspace. For the church to grow and learn, utilizing the technology of the Internet to evangelize and keep in touch with the mission field is essential. There are generations of people today who view the Internet as their community and connection to others. The church needs to tap into this paradigm and offer itself to people as a place where community and authenticity can be found, a safe place to explore a life of grace.
